Thanks kevinK and coosefan

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to say thanks to Kevink for driving down from vegas to help me glass in unit 10 this weekend for Elk and thanks to Coosefan for pointing us in a good direction on the last few hours I had left to hunt.

I hunted the first few days for a 360-370 class bull my Buddy had been seeing in the high country but had no luck locating him during the hunt. About 1pm sunday afternnon Kevin and I ran into Jim Mullins and he pointed us in a direction to were we could go and shoot a last minute bull. Well we drove were Jim told us and started walking some ridges to glass for the evening hunt. About a hour before dark we see a herd of cows with 2 little spikes in it feeding down a ridge into a open wash about 300 yards away. With it being just about time to head home it did not take me long to decide that one of those spikes was going to die. I walked about 50 yards closer to the elk to get around some trees that was blocking me from having a clean shot and got set up against a dead pine tree. I shot and hit the spike with a 180 grain nosler partition hand load out of my 300 win mag. The first shot hit him and he just kinda stumbled and walked a few yards up the hill while the other elk took off running. I shot a few more times while he was standing there intell he finally dropped. I did not get good feild pics because I did not have time to get the camera from the truck before dark but I got a few decent pics...... sorry for the blood in the pics

Congratulations on your elk!

It's nice to hear that you can still get good advice from guys in the field.

I spoke with a couple guys during the Nov. rifle whitetail season that would probably have sent you off on a wild goose chase just to get a laugh from it.

Now smile for the pictures will ya?

:D

Longshooter- anytime bro you know that. I was glad I could help, just wish we could have found a bigger bull for you. dang work always gets in the way of hunting! The real thanks should go to Coosefan and Craig for the last minute 'honey hole' after your first spot didn't pan out. Not many people would have done that. Big thank you to Jim and Craig for the help, you guys are awesome.
