yotebuster Report post Posted October 13, 2017 There is absolutely no blood left in the antlers the second the velvet is gone. Technical they start shrinking the second they strip velvet and it continues essentially forever although it slows to unnoticeable levels fairly quickly. They fall off due to osteoclast activity at the pedicle/antler interface brought on by dropping testosterone levels. The osteoclasts attack the bone and resorb it until the antler falls off.
