Speaking of Wolves

Recommended Posts

Here is the whole article, I probably wasn't fair to the wolf program making fun of him being off road, he could be on a ranch somewhere.
It is interesting though they are trying to find ways for quote:

Instead, the Range Rider program focuses on the practical and thorny problem of how to successfully raise cattle in wolf country. The intentional reintroduction of wolves into a wild landscape shared with people has created a practical need for a new kind of relationship with the animal. Instead of killing wolves, how do we live with them?

Well the ranchers already figured out how to raise livestock in "wolf country". Eliminate the wolves.

Hard to argue with success

But the wolves are natural, why shouldn't we CO-EXIST???? WHY in the world would someone have to be vigilant?????

While we are at it....why don't we push for the grizzly to come to the Grand Canyon?

Why stop there: we know how to clone stuff now, and there used to be wooly mammoths here. Ranchers will just have to learn how to raise cattle around manny and Sid the sloth.

what really pisses me off is hunters get all mad about anti hunters and legislation that hurts hunting and then support this wolf crap and wonder why it's so bad.

I do not know of a single rancher that has appreciated the wolf program- they lose a ton of $$$ because they can't do anything about wolves killing off their cattle (even though the law says they can kill one that is attacking livestock). No rancher can afford to watch or pay someone to watch their cattle all day.

Its just the same old reaction to a new (reintroduced) problem- if they don't have a dog in the fight they don't care.

The taxes are what piss me off more than anything. Every election cycle there's about 1/2 a dozen school bonds on the ballot, because there's just not enough money for new text books or teacher salaries, but gosh dang it, there's always a little extra to play with wolves and spotted owls and whatever other furry thing is trendy today.

Well, I have to disagree. Hunters pride themselves on being conservationists, unless the natural world is inconvenient to their desires. Then just remove whatever is inconvenient.

Even Aldo Leupold, who we have to thank for the North American model knew the value of wolves and wrote of his regret for contributing to their removal.

If we aren't willing to put environments, ecosystems and wildlife first (those we kill and those we don't) then we aren't any better than the tree highest who only want national forests and natural resources to be used for their own selfish purposes.

I know I am fighting an uphill battle, but my opinion has changed over time on this and I hope others will think more about it as well.

If the introduced cattle and the re-introduced wolf simply can not find a way to get along why not get rid of both and increase the elk herds?

I don't have a problem with the wolves it's the political BS that come with them. The government puts a recovery plan in place 300-350 wolves south of I-40. Someday maybe they reach that number now they become delisted and the state is supposed to be able to manage them in a sound science based way. Nope in steps the CENTER FOR BIOLOGICAL DIVERSITY and sues the AZGFD for whatever program they put in place. Now it's tied up in court for years where it will eventually end up in the libtard 9th court all the while the wolf population continues to grow with no checks and balances.

Ding ding ding ding ding ding!!!

This is the problem with conservation, it's become a litigators paradise with different sides vying to progress a political agenda.

I'm not against them either. I'm neutral. Had my opinion been asked, I would have said no thanks, but it doesn't impact my life greatly that they are here (although ranchers in the area are certainly feeling it).

My anger on the issue is directed at a huge government debt, constant budget deficit, infrastructure problems in every state, cities that are so poor they are turning the lights out, a public education system (or rather public indoctrination system, but that's a different argument) that is a total joke, and this is what we spend my tax dollars on?!!! I don't really know wht everyone else's situation is, but I have several hundreds of dollars per week stolen from me and then write another big check at the end of the year. Not to mention sales tax property tax, excise tax, clean air tax, etc etc etc on and on and on.... and we can't afford good va treatment for our soldiers, good education for our kids, or to fix some of the thousands of crumbling roads and bridges around the country, plus a slew of other social problems but we have money to play with yet more packs of wolves. What a fricking joke. It's an even worse use of money then sending foreign aid to every crap hole country with no economy and no prospect of ever being self sustaining.

Paying taxes to our government is like handing a credit card with no limit to a gambling drug addict that has expensive tastes and lives to shop and telling them to go have the best time they can, and don't worry we'll pay the bill later!
