6a muzzy bull

Recommended Posts

just thought that i would share with you all that my dad killed a nice bull on the 6a muzzleloader hunt this past weekend. not that exciting of a story, but here it is. i found this bull and a few others the weekend before the hunt and hoped they would do the samething opening morning. opening morning we left camp a little after 5 and started the hike and got to the glassing spot at 6 and waited til it got light enough to see. at 6:30 the bulls started working out of the flats and up the hill and i spotted them half way up at 6:55. we moved about 450 yards to get into position for a shot and everything else is history. 170 yard shot and 35 yard recovery. bullet hit a little far back but the bull was quartering away, found the bullet behind the off side should right under the skin. hunt was over at 7:30 opening morning. not the biggest bull on the hill but a definite trophy in our minds. i dont get to hunt with my dad as much as i'd like so this was really special. hope you enjoy.

right after the shot, knowing it was a good one!

thanks for all of the kind words. i actually forgot to tell you all a big part of the story, my dad was never drawn this year!!!!! the results came out and neither one of us were drawn, bummer right? about a week after the drawing he got a call from a nice girl at the G and F, she had a 6a muzzleloader bull tag and it was his if he wanted it!!! he sent her a check that day and the tag came in the mail a couple days later! he knew right then he was gonna kill a good one! what luck.

elkhunter, sure do remember those NAU days. yea there are a few nice bulls in there, there was one on the same hill friday morning but was a little further way and gonna be harder to kill. dad was just as happy with this one!! i live down in prescott now, working for an engineering company. hunting and fishing as much as time and money allows. what about you? still in school up there?

Yeah I'm a senior this year, will graduate in May, only took 4 years. I've been working with AZGFD and hope to end up working with them when I graduate. Once again congrats on the bull. That's some luck right there he got called up and asked if he wanted a tag.
