mjmhunter Report post Posted November 22, 2007 The Jim white adapter is a good product and you won't go wrong with it. However, I use the Outdoorsmans adapter. IMO it seems to secure my 15's a little better and I think its a little more durable. If your looking for a head I would recomend his all day long. JIM WHITE Report post Posted December 1, 2007 Hello All: I appreciate all of your input, both positive and negative regarding my products. In fact I have often used the negative input to change several of my products in an attempt to make them better. I am however curious about the post by "TINES", wherein he finds my Swarovski SLC tripod adapter to be "Cheesy". Perhaps if Tines could give me somemore information in slightly more techinal terms I could address his disatisfaction and maybe come up with a better product as I have in the past. Iam also curious as to why it appears he is disatisfied with the "cost" of my adapter. I have listed below a price comparison with the other adapters listed in this post. Jim White adapter: $30.00 Outdorrsman(complete with pin) $94.90 Swarovski adapter (in Cabela's) $109.99 Thank you all again for your input on my products, Ive got some new stuff coming soon. You all take care and good hunting Jim White
Diamondbackaz Report post Posted December 1, 2007 I find the collet chuck design on the Swarovkis work excellent and removes the binos quickly. I had an outdoorsmans adaptor to but traded it for another Swaro mount. Since I have a narrow IPD, I have the use the binos at their narrowest setting. The outdoorsmans adaptor wouldn't allow the 15x56 binos to close all the way. The swaro mount almost did, and now does after some sanding of the sides of the post on a drum sander. I could have sanded the sides of the outdoorsmans adator too, but there would not have been a lot of metal left on the adaptor.

Tines Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Hello All: I appreciate all of your input, both positive and negative regarding my products. Jim White adapter: $30.00 Outdorrsman(complete with pin) $94.90 Swarovski adapter (in Cabela's) $109.99 Thank you all again for your input on my products, Ive got some new stuff coming soon. You all take care and good hunting Jim White Jim, First I'd like to apologize if I offended you. That wasn't my intentions. I also probably used a bad choice of words in "cheesy". However, I have nothing to retract from my statement in regards to what my adapter preferences are. In his post, he stated "........some opinions on them (adapters) to try and complete my dream optics setup." I gave my opinion because I own and have had the opportunity to use all 3 adapters. We're all in some need of some personal testimony of what may work for us and what may not. If I recall, someone else had the same concern regarding the binos falling off as I did. Which happened to be my only MAIN concern with your adapter. As far as them poking me in the chest, that's not the products fault when NOT being used as maunufacturers recommend. I tried to find "cheesy" in the Websters on-line but it wasn't there. At least not in the context I was using it. This is what I meant by cheesy. Your adapter does not completely secure your binos to it's reciever, leaving the possibility of the binos actually falling off VERY likely if your head falls forward or back. Which panheads have a tendency of doing, regardless of user error or not. I love the idea of being able to quickly remove and put in place your binos, trust me, I do. But, to me, there's something missing. And that's having the re-assurance that my binos aren't going to fall off under normal hunting conditions or circumstances. I also offered the suggestion that maybe you should incorporate some sort of locking mechanism, from the adapter to the reciever to negate this problem. Your product would cost you AND us more, but I know that I'm willing to pay more if it means my binos are secure. Surely I'm not the only person that has had this concern of them falling off. As far as the price goes, that's why I stated "....for the price you pay, it works fine." I meant that the Jim White adapter IS cheaper AND it still works fine. No doubt, it gets the job done. I hope all who are reading this understand that I'm in no way suggesting that all of your products are of this quality/functionality. My only experience is with your SLC adapter. I've heard fantastic things about your other products. Some may find your adapter works better for them. I, on the other hand find that it doesn't suit MY needs and I thought that I answered his question as best as I could. Happy hunting to you too and I would LOVE to try out some of your other products in the future. Jake
coues7 Report post Posted December 10, 2007 Tine.....good for you! You stated your mind and stood by it.....if people didn't state the truth no improvements would ever be made. I whole heartly agree. I actually had a pair of 10x42's fall off the Jim White adapter.....thank goodness they were on a neck strap as well otherwise my $1200 optics would have a huge chip out of the lens. I personally use the Swarovski Brand adpater to hold my 10x50 SLC's. The mount is much bulkier than the Jim White adapter, which is the only thing I don't like about them. My dad just picked up a pair of the 10x50 SLC's and I'm trying to decide which adapter to get him. The outdoorsman is just as expensive as the Swarovski one. Jim's is awesome because it's lite and small but lacks the assurance that the thing won't pop off when glassing. Not sure which I'm gonna get him. coues7
