Scope Question

Recommended Posts

Ok so I bought a vortex viper 4-16-50 scope for my 22-250 this weekend. I'm shooting hornady superformance varmit 50 gr. out of it. It shoots 4000 fps. Do any of you know what the drop lines would be in my scope for that bullet for the BDC? I can't find an app or anything online for it. I just want to know the yardage that each line would represent for what I'm shooting. Thanks guys.

Ya it didn't come with it. I have tried the vortex site but can't find the correct bullet. If someone has time to find what the drop lines represent for that bullet I'll repay the favor. Thanks

4000 fps? Holy jesus. What's your load?

Sorry, Kenny, I can't help with your question.

Heres the manual. I don't think there is an online tool/calculator out there that is going to give you what youre looking for.

One easy way to get a rough estimate without blowing through a bunch of ammo would be to make visible marks on a board/paper at the bullet drop measurements indicated in the standard hornady ballistics chart and set your target out to each of the corresponding distances to see where the mark lines up on your bdc.

The only way to know precisely thought would be to actually shoot groups at each distance.

Go shoot it. It's the only way to be sure, and unless it's a first focal plane scope the hash marks will represent a different range at different power settings on the scope. It's probably best to determine your drops at high power where you would more than likely have the power set for a longer shot.
