John O Report post Posted November 15, 2007 I was able to take this little forky at 558 yards on the second day of the Nov. hunt (date is wrong on the photo). Last year was my first deer hunt, and I feel fortunate to be two for two. If the trend holds, next year will be a spike.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 15, 2007 thats how it happened for me! first was a 3x3 ( mine and yours look like twins, yours has a tad more mass) and then a 3x2, then a spike then a fork... so if the trend holds up i should be back to a 3x3 this year right?! congrats! who did the work on your first buck?! A friend of mine knows a guy in Sierra Vista that does it on the side, and at a great price. If you want his info. PM me and I will send it to you.
Apatkelley Report post Posted November 21, 2007 Hey, it's good to see that you got one. Over 500 yards is some shot too. Congrats. Aaron Oh, by the way, I ended up shooting a spike after 8 days of hunting I only had one other chance on a 90 inch plus deer but didn't end up taking the shot. I guess there is always next year. Congrats! That is a lot of hard work. I have only hunted these coues for 2 years now, and in my book, any buck is a trophy. I can't get over those that post and almost appologize for their buck if it isn't a 4 point 100 incher. Your deer from last year is a tank, and for me would be a buck of a lifetime. Enjoy the tender cuts! (Just as a side note- I thought I was the long shooter in the camp, until my buddy bagged a 3X3 at 777 yards the next morning. And no, he has not had any formal sniper training)
