Goldfinger78 Report post Posted August 7, 2017 Another hunting season is fast approaching, and for me this will be the most exciting yet! I have only been hunting for a few years but have become very much addicted to the sport. As my interest in hunting has grown, so has my son's. At this point he as only got to hunt dove and waterfowl, but that is soon going to change since he has drawn an Elk tag in October. Once we learned that he drew the tag we have spent some time at the range getting him ready. It has been fun to watch him learn and become a better shooter each time we go out. Today we got to shoot the rifle we plan on using for his hunt, my Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. We have shot the rifle a handful of times but never at a distance greater than 200 yards. Until today that is.....The pictures attached show my 1st shot and my son's first shot at 443 yards. Needless to say my son shot great and not to bad for dad either. After today I am confident in his abilities and more excited now than ever for the upcoming season. I cant wait to see how much more he learns and grows during his first big game hunt!

Zeke-BE Report post Posted August 7, 2017 Awesome job!! Take him out there when the wind starts blowing around. He will appreciate and respect the gun even more when he sees the wind kicking his bullet around. On a elk I don't think he will miss his mark but he can understand with a 10 mph wind at 450 yards his bullet will move 13 inches. Best of luck and go hunt and report back to us, we love youth hunts!!!
1uglydude Report post Posted August 7, 2017 What does he want, whitetail or mulie His original post says the kid drew an elk tag. So...neither.
