HNTNGUY Report post Posted August 6, 2017 So I have a Manfrotto tripod and outdoorsman Pistol grip. Problem is they are both studded and I have no clue what adapter I need to make them work! Any input would be greatly appreciated. Pics are added for reference
Kaffer62 Report post Posted August 6, 2017 If I remember correctly you should be able to remove the threads from the tripod. Can you remove the disc on the tripod??
HNTNGUY Report post Posted August 6, 2017 Kaffer62- I haven't tried to remove it. . With that being said, how would I then attach my pan head without the screw from the tripod?
cjl2010 Report post Posted August 6, 2017 You need a threaded dove tail adapter for the pistol grip and you need a quick attach adapter for your tripod
Mike S Report post Posted August 6, 2017 You should be able to remove the stud from the tripod leaving the lower disk attached and can then thread the head stud into the hole the tripod stud was threaded into.
buddydog Report post Posted August 6, 2017 You need the panning attachment. The panning attachment screws onto the tripod stud. The pistol grip screws onto the panning attachment.

HNTNGUY Report post Posted August 6, 2017 Starting to wonder if the Outdoorsman Pistol Grip is worth the hassle or just pick up a Manfrotto pistol grip. Thoughts?
Chris Report post Posted August 6, 2017 You may have to try both and return one. I know, painl-in-the-butt. Save those receipts! I lean towards Manfrotto. I love their stuff.
rcdinaz Report post Posted August 6, 2017 You should be able to remove the stud from the tripod leaving the lower disk attached and can then thread the head stud into the hole the tripod stud was threaded into. yep, the stud from the tripod should come out but the panning adapter will make it move MUCH smoother.
HNTNGUY Report post Posted August 6, 2017 If I get the panning adapter, can I still use both the pistol grip and my Manfrotto 128rc without having to switch a bunch of crap out?
buddydog Report post Posted August 6, 2017 The panning attachment along with the pistol grip is well worth the money spent. You'll be very happy with this set up.
maximus Report post Posted August 6, 2017 the outdorrsmans pistol grip is a lot lighter then the manfrotto pistol grip.
Kaffer62 Report post Posted August 6, 2017 I hated the manfrotto pistol grip. The pan head is a lot better. I still choose the outdoorsmans models over the manfrotto
