ready2hunt Report post Posted July 27, 2017 Shooting bears, why tho Because it's awesome. I have shot decent animals (nothing crazy big) but by far tagging a bear has been my favorite
mattys281 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 i think youre on the right track. i would try to turn them into dancing bears. I think the real money is in motorcycling bears. Saw a big ole brown bear riding a moped around the ring at the Ukrainian national circus in Kiev about ten years ago. Impressive! That bear was a better motorist than most of the clowns playing bumper cars on our freeways everyday.
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 You'd be screwed. The responsibility falls on you completely. This. How could it be any other way???Exactly. There is no grey area in this law. It is black and white. Sow without cubs. Period. ^this! There is no what if or grey area. I think G&F should make people wait 3 years or something before they hunt again if they check in a sow in the first place. It would certainly make people spend a little more time looking the bear over and would eliminate a lot of the people shooting bears you couldn't make a hat out of. I have killed one bear, a respectable +-250lb boar with a bow. No desire to kill another one unless it is a great big boar, like this one that i get on my camera once or twice a year.

GreyGhost85 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 If every bear walking in thick brush has a cub somewhere near it, then yes.
Guest oneshot Report post Posted July 27, 2017 The law states: "Sow without cubs." Black and white. Yes, FirstCouesWas80... that is what the law states... My question is " What if the Bear is traveling ALONE, and only after the shot you find out it has cubs/female... Yeah, a call to G&F is first on the list, but I'm sure this situation has been happening for years, I'm wanting to know the out come, without just tagging, running off and not reporting the Bear... firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 I would imagine that is up to the warden and that no two cases are alike.
GreyGhost85 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 I would imagine it plays out a lot like shooting a mule deer in coues season or vice versa or accidentally shooting an animal of the wrong gender. Difference is, killing a sow with cubs not only kills the sow but the cubs as well. Usually results in confiscation of animal and often a loss of hunting privileges

Usually results in confiscation of animal and often a loss of hunting privileges Sorry GreyGhost85, but the mulie/coues dealy is totaly a different case... you can tell a mulie from a coues, or a doe from a buck and the "hunter' should be held accountable for that mistake... With a tight terrain/fast paced Bear hunt is it even possible to tell a male from a female Bear???... (I have rifle and bow killed a handfull of Bear's, in Canada, over bait, from tree-stands, I didnt know the sex untill i walked-up and rolled 'em over)... firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted July 27, 2017 Oneshot, in all due respect, if you're going to argue against points made that differ from your idea, why post at all? The fact is the law states sow without cubs. It doesn't set a special set of ciscumstances if you're hunting in difficult terrain. And, even if someone has been in the same exact situation as you described, the chances are that no two cases are going to play out exactly the same.
SunDevil Report post Posted July 27, 2017 someone else indicated on this thread the following: "any bear except sows with cub" which is it? what if the sow is not with the cub? what if the cub is 150 yards away in another canyon? is the sow than technically with the cub?

That is probably the best question, what constitutes "with"?
