Rhino vs Ranger......

Recommended Posts

I saw one of the truck bulldogs coming down the switchbacks in unit 24B last year. I think it said it was made by Isuzu or something like that.

Your crazy if you don't buy the extra warranty!! Mine has payed for its self just in the past 8 months! If you take care of it like you should everything you have, you can see that it will pay for its self. One service on a ranger or a rhino will run you about 500.00!!! Do the math!

What did the extended warranty cost you and what does it cover, oh yeah how long

does it cover the machine?

I would have to look and see but it was around 1000.00 and it does not cover crap. the belt was not covered nor the cv boots, waste of money don't get it, the warranty is just that its not insurance, They say that stuff is normal wear and tear and they won't cover it, It does no good when your belt breaks the first day of a 10 day hunt.

so what do they do that cost 500 bucks change the oil check air in the tires. I can do most of the maint myself instead of letting the UTI students mess it up.

Have you changed the oil your self? Its a pain in the butt. When your belt breaks, its usually a manufacture defect with the motor mounts and warranty will cover it. If you don't ask or know that they will call it wear and tear and your out of luck. Like you said they arn't the brightest bunch that are working on them, but when you build a good relationship with any mechanic they will treat you better and overlook a wear and tear and make it a covered part. I understand at the same time why you think that its a waist of money looking at it from the how does it cost 500 to tune and change oil/filters. I look at it as peace of mind. I screw it up its going to cost me more, they do it, they fix it.

If I remember right, they are originally built in Japan, and then Bulldog takes them, guts them, beefs them up, and re-sells them. I haven't seen my friends' first hand, but i will in December.

They look a little top heavy, all though I like every thing else you listed about them.

I have had a Ranger for about a year now. I have to say I love it. I have been more places with it with a couple of buddies on the front seat. I have never had a belt break, but I carry a spare and a 10mm rachet just in case. I am coming up on 200 Hrs and will have to replace break pads. My Ranger gets used 2-4 times a month when not big game hunting or scouting. The only problems I have had were caused by me pushing the limit, I.e popping a tire.

As for belt problems, I have the 2005 XP 700 EFI, no belt problems. I have heard the newer models had a slight change that cause faster belt wear. I also heard they "Dealer" can fix that, it is just an alignment deal.

I also have bird dogs, can throw an aluminum dog box in the back and you and the dogs are on your way. 4 Dogs, water, guns ammo and meals. You can't do that in a jeep or a Rhino or even an Arctic Cat Prowler.

Good luck, they are all nicer than riding a quad or beating up your truck. Really what matters is if it meets your needs.

I have looked at them all and I am pretty sure that I am going with the arctic cat 700 efi because it is a kind of a cross between the ranger and the rhino. They are all nice though I would consider buying any one of them!
