Let's see a Rhino do this!!! (and Yes, we're on a road)

Pretty cool but i think if i can get a whole elk on a quad i can fit it in a rhino.

YOu need to pack an extra drive belt on all the utv's. The ranger seems to be harder on the stock belts though. I have seen all brands broke down on the side of the trail do to the same thing.

agreed I carry a spare with me and the tools to change it, I installed a drive belt of the RZR it is more heavy duty than the original, Its a must have for the rangers.

As trophy master said, get a wrangler. You can get a used 97 and newer Wrangler with coil springs for less than you

can get a Ranger for.

  • A Wrangler can be driven on the highway, a Ranger cannot
  • A Wrangler has AC and heating, a Ranger has none
  • A Wrangler can be used as a family car when needed to drive across town
  • Wrangler will be more comfortable for longer drives
  • Wrangler parts will be easy to get years to come
  • The wrangler will be less maintenance and more durable

Can you justify the cost for such a limted use vehicle??

If I you do decide to get one, Yamaha is a much more refined product than Polaris.

I have a '07 Polaris Ranger and love it!!! Like many others I checked all the competors and have friends that have rhinos and the Artic Cats. There is no comperison. I would have been disapointed if I bought anything else. I have had it for about 8 months, have about 125hrs on it, and have gone about 1600miles. I take it in for service every 25hrs. I have hurd the problems with people burning belts, but I know about a dozen guys that have the ranger, and not one has had a problem yet. Spend the money and get the warranty, buy an extra belt, just incase, and have a spare tire!!! I have seen alot of guys with cracked rims from driving way to fast over rocks. Don't buy the 500!!!! And if you can, stick with the steel wheels, they hold up better to the rocks. You will not belive the places that you can get and the amount of time it takes to get there!

I have seen a ranger or two roll over, but they rolled over cause they were stupid and drunk!! Not a good combo!! I use mine at work from time to time and you won't belive all the crap you can put in it!

Here's another option: My buddy swears by his "Bulldog". Basically just a miniature truck. His seats 4, but they make a 2 seater with a bigger bed as well. Plenty of power, heat, A/C, and he can go 320 miles on 1 tank! Less than half the price of a Ranger too. Pretty dang cool.

I have the Rhino and the Arctic Cat Prowler and I just had my first experience with the Ranger over the last 4 days. I have always preached that the Ranger was quieter than the Rhino and that was based only on somebody driving by me on a Ranger and it sounded quieter. That is not entirely true. We had 5 Rangers and 1 Rhino in our camp this past weekend.......and the Ranger is not that much quieter than the Rhino......at least not enough to make a difference. I don't like the "boxy" feel of the Ranger. You sit up high, you can't stretch your legs and you're not stable in the seat at all. I would have been scared if there wasn't a bar on the side of the bench seat to keep you in! We did have two adults, two kids, 4 packs with all the gear, 2 rifles and 2 boned-out Muley bucks in back of our Ranger and it "handled" the weight perfectly....but my Rhino would have done the same thing, just not as stable, but going slow it would have been fine. The Prowler would have done better than the Rhino in this case, but it gets the job done just the same regardless.

I can put a bull elk in the back of my Rhino and climb out of a canyon with no problems. You have to quarter him up though, but I almost always quarter my elk up as soon as the pic's are done because of the heat issue on most of our hunts, so I expect to never have to try and put a full elk or half an elk in my Rhino. I have also cut a bull elk in half and put half on front and half on back of a 2004 Sportsman 500 and drove it off a mountain with no problems.....kinda scary, but no problems.

I believe that it doesn't matter which one you choose.......just get one! They all are great and get the job done. You will drive yourself nuts weighing all the pro's and con's and still not have a perfect choice. If you plan on putting something bigger than a bull elk in the back, then definitely get the Ranger, if you are concerned more about the ride and comfort, then get the Rhino or Prowler. I just went and bought the ones that felt good to sit in and drive and I have no regrets. They are all good. JIM>

Here's the Prowler w/out the cab kit.............I honestly don't like the cab kit 'cause it makes it feel very top heavy and creates alot of dust in the cab. That is true for all the UTV's though when you add a enclosure of some kind.

The first bulldog kind of reminds me of a Redneck Scooby Doo mobile!
