Big or Bust Report post Posted July 19, 2017 Best thing about December hunts is the weather and 2 week seasons...
kazpilot25 Report post Posted July 19, 2017 My uncle and his crew from work all drew 12AW October tags this year with 0 points. An application of 4 people with zero points got 12AW tags. That's just maddening.
knothead Report post Posted July 19, 2017 Since you are asking, this is what I would do. 12a west late first choice and 12a west early 2nd choice. Do this until you draw one of the hunts which is most likely 1-2 years away. I have had both hunts and the biggest buck I have ever seen was on the early hunt. Both are really fun to be on and really reminds me of what a real western hunt was like 30-40 years ago. Good Luck
DirtyApple Report post Posted July 24, 2017 My 14 year old son with no bonus points and me with no bonus points drew 17A as our second choice. But I have not been in that unit in over 30 years.

That's just maddening. Yes it is, but its all part of the fun of the system. It could and will eventually happen to you. I'm the one who did't draw it with 7 points. I like the system the way it is, but it does get frustrating sometimes.
Hoss50 Report post Posted July 26, 2017 Where do I find the info on the draw this year to see how many BP's it took to get bonus pass this year in certain areas?
Yuma Outdoorsman Report post Posted July 26, 2017 1189 Dec 15 - Dec 31, 2017 (7,8,13) 39, 40A, 40B, 41, and 42 (excluding White Tank Mountain Park)(Special Restrictions Apply - See Footnote 7) Any antlered deer 50 This muzzleloader hunt is considered a trophy hunt for some of us down here in the desert. Lots of good bucks are shot during this hunt and you have a lot of area to hunt with only 50 tag holders. You have a good chance to shoot a 170+ buck on this hunt.
Hoss50 Report post Posted July 26, 2017 I have been honestly thinking about trying to chase a desert buck too. I have seen a couple decent bucks near my dove hunting hole, and I know a lot of nice bucks are out there.
