CatfishKev Report post Posted July 16, 2017 Came across this, thought it might interest some of you. BASA (Baja AZ Sustainable Agriculture) Will be set up at Sierra Vista Farmers Market on Thursday July 20. They will have info on mesquite pod harvesting for the purpose grinding into flour. Then they will be back in October on the 12 with their hammermill to Mill your product for a fee. Check out the SV farmers market site for more info.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted July 16, 2017 Those beans are hard to process into flour without the mill but worth the effort. I grind the velvet beans on my property with a magic bullet type coffee grinder, then sift it and grind again. The flour is sorta sticky from the sugars. Depending on what they charge it might be a good deal and a lot less hassle. I wonder if it's the same outfit that's up the San Pedro?
Guest oneshot Report post Posted July 16, 2017 Thanks for the info CatFishKev... I prefer to grind my own pods, with a blender, so I know the pods are without mold, excessive insect... you must also sift out the seed fragments, they cause a bitter taste...
