Rock30golf Report post Posted July 14, 2017 Looking at boyds stock (WOOD) or Stockeys (CARBON FIBER) My question is once its bedded and barrel has been floated will I have a problem with either of these stocks shooting from a bi-pod? 2nd is it worth converting to a BDL from a ADL? Thank you
PRDATR Report post Posted July 14, 2017 BDL will be more convienent to unload, will weigh a tad more. I have an ADL and after almost 25 years I am looking at a B&C Alaskan. Not sure about the Stockey CF but there should be no issue with a wood stock. If it's pillar bedded I wouldn't waste time or money doing a bedding job.
bonecollector777 Report post Posted July 15, 2017 I've been reading those ADL stocks can be a pain to inlet how you want them. So just a heads up on that.
trphyhntr Report post Posted July 15, 2017 I'm tripping, why would it be any different or a problem shooting from a bipod
Rock30golf Report post Posted July 15, 2017 I'm tripping, why would it be any different or a problem shooting from a bipod I was told the flex of the stock is different when shooting from a bi pod. (free floating barrel) Which can affect the accuracy.
300RUM Report post Posted July 15, 2017 Many higher-end rifle manufacturers like McMillan or HS precision build their rifles with BDL or DM bottom metal. They do not have accuracy problems because of it. Yes an ADL stock with the bottom not cut out would be more rigid. Flexing in this area that leads to Stock and Barrel contact may be something that's an issue on more cheaply constructed stocks.
