Recommended Posts

Well since Lark isn't around anymore, it needs to be said by someone.

6.5 Creedmoor

7mm-08 just sounds like a woman's cartridge

He bailed a few years before that and took a hiatus. Maybe we can ressurect him under the moniker of Highway 270. Pretty sure Casey could pull it off.

idk but that dude .270 talked so much shoot about 7mm-08 i wouldnt let my friends shoot one. i think my favorite was when he said something like, youd have to shoot the bullet then reload it just to get it there

The ballistics between the 143 eldx for 6.5 Creedmoor and the 150 eldx for 7mm-08 are really really close to each other for velocity, drop, energy.

I do not see the 6.5 Creedmoor as a fad and think is will be around a while. The variety of factory ammo keeps increasing.

There are plenty of factory choices with good hunting bullets for both chamberings. If you are building, you can have a good barrel with the proper twist.

I do not think whatever you choose to float your boat will be the wrong answer.

My 7mm-08 is an Ackley Improved, Is that at least a little closer to being a manly cartridge?

I have to agree with Red Rabbit, there is no wrong choice here. I spent days laying in bed with a broken ankle working on a laptop trying to prove either the .260 or 7mm-08 AI would be a better round for my build. In the end I felt like I had just spent several days chasing my tail but it beat sitting on the couch watching Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer.

Thanks for all the input guys. Decided to go for the 6.5. All in all seemed like no matter how much I researched they were about equal. Came down to 6.5 possibly being a little more friendly to reload and possibly being able to handle longer bullets better and slightly less recoil. Also 6.5 just seems cooler for whatever reason. Guess Hornady did a good job marketing them!

Let's be honest, you didn't want to be called a sissy by Lark.

We all know that at some point Outdoor Writer will get on here and say something and Lark won't be able to help himself anymore.
