300RUM Report post Posted August 23, 2017 Assuming this is on public land the fact that they found the site and put a camera on it in no way gives them any right to the spot just as you leaving a blind there gives you no right to the spot. On public land it is first come, first served and common courtesy should prevail. He who gets there second needs to go somewhere else. Seems that if your blind gets trashed you will have a pretty good idea who did it.

D.F.M. Report post Posted August 31, 2017 So you asked here goes. I have seen salt out, I mean there was already salt there growing out of the ground yeah. And I have pulled my camera that doesn't mean it is now abandoned. That just means there's not a camera there right now. But some folks think they own the land once they put something there. Stand, camera, Salt,Ground blind whatever. Me I don't mess with other peoples stuff. But we all know there are some real A----H----- out there. Now i'm going to go sit a tank where i saw a camera but i'm not going to mess with the camera. And if the person whose camera is out there doesn't like that . Well I'm not living my life by what other people think just sayin. Good luck to all be safe.
Guest oneshot Report post Posted August 31, 2017 There has been a tree-stand and two ground blinds set-up in a certain canyon, for a few weeks. Hunting buddy said " But there is gear in there, what if they show-up??? Lets go elsewhere"... I say " are they there now??? We wont know till we head up canyon, if they are there fine, we will carry-on. But I'm not abandoning an area because someone stuffed gear in there. F-that"... First day of recent Bow season, while at trailhead, another rig pulled in, 2men and a woman in hunting gear. I went over and asked " Deer or Bear hunting???", answer was "both". I told them where we were headed and our plan-of-the-day. Sujested another canyon for them off same trail, they knew the area... Next day, two different hunters went by in the dark, never a word from either, even though we were headed up the same canyon. Buddy says " damm, where do we go now???"... I say "keep heading up canyon, since they saw us and didnt want to talk, we dont know if they went 100yds and sat down or are headed where we are going, it's a big Mt "... Buddy tagged-out on his first Bear, I dont have a clue what they did... Both days we were the first Hunters at the trailhead... And if you are the kind that sets-up blinds/tree-stands, and you leave them out, If someone comes by, WAVE WHISTLE do something to let others you are there, so I can move-on, I'm NOT walking over to check if you decided to Hunt that day, because I am Hunting... Red Sparky Report post Posted September 2, 2017 One way road, or use to be road with all the trees fallen across it into a tank, during the first hunt, I will put up a sign if I am hunting the tank. Just a sign to let people know I am down there and they can come down or not. The first year I got tired of second season hunters scouting and ruining my hunts with a "We didn't know anybody was hunting here" response. I tell all hunters I run into they can hunt the tank and we all use the sign when we are there and take it down when we are not. Most hunters I run into we work around each other as it is big country and no reason to be running over each other. Saves 1 mile round trip walk.
4huntrs Report post Posted September 6, 2017 Heading to a trailhead this year in the dark I noticed a reflection in a small tree. Got out to check, someone had a camera watching the road. The following week while I was at the truck at the trailhead another hunter approached and asked if it was my camera. He was not happy about his picture being taken on a public road. He informed me that he checked the pictures then deleted them. Did not damage the camera or or steal the card. I ran into another hunter that also commented about not wanting his picture taken on public roads. I didn't really care. Ive always been extremely good looking and take great pictures. AzDiamondHeat Report post Posted September 6, 2017 I was out scouting last week and looked in on a couple of water holes. Because I am not a "camera guy", I just don;t think about looking for them. I have stumbled on a couple accidentally while almost running into them. I am certain there are guys out there wondering what kind of idiot I am walking in front of their cameras so clueless. At least I kept my clothes on unlike some of our CWT friends.....
chico Report post Posted September 6, 2017 Depends on what you call ethical--hypothetically your out and about and you find ground blinds-cameras and no one around on water holes on public land . Yet signage indicating hunter sitting water hole please respect on a public road -yet not all users of public land are hunting- What would you do if you have a tag , pursuing on foot and legal on public land and are closing the distance on said animal--walk away or keep on keeping on ?
