AZHUNTER05 Report post Posted July 5, 2017 There are lots of issues with def pumps, running them till empty creates so many crystal in the tank, it causes premature failure. Wherever you read that def goes bad at 100 degrees is a lie. All of our def is sitting in 55 gallon barrel and is subject to the heat 120+ and we never had a issue with quality. lol go do some research on it. If stored properly at 86 degrees or less def fluid is good for one year. At 100 degrees it's good for 1 month. Watch the YouTube video I posted a few comments above. This is what I have found through my research.

CJNAZ Report post Posted July 5, 2017 Fiat Chrysler Automotive group and Cummins have had a class action lawsuit filed against them at the end of last year. Not sure what has come of it. The 6.7L Cummins diesel engine has an issue with the selective catalytic converter (SCR) system breaking down, allowing the filter to get clogged. My 2015 experienced this and was part of a recall effort. Dealer tried to re-flash the computer but that didn't work. They ended up replacing the SCR system. Works fine now. AZHUNTER05 Report post Posted July 5, 2017 My 6.4 Hemi doesn't...... True, but it doesn't pull nearly as much and gas mileage is terrible.
AZHUNTER05 Report post Posted July 5, 2017 I really appreciate all the feedback guys. One of the recalls on my truck involves the catalytic converter so hopefully this will fix the problem. This has been a headache to say the least!
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted July 5, 2017 If you can get away with it, delete kit. I purposely bought a pre 2007.5 truck so I had the 5.9l cummins without any DEF, EGR, or PDF crap on it. I plan to run this truck until it falls apart or I find another low mile 2007 or earlier. My dad picked up a nice 2006 cummins last year with 70,000 miles on it. I know they may not be as nice as the newer stuff, but they are much easier and cheaper to work on. I have a 2007. 5.9L as well. Minus the garbage transmission, I love this truck. It gets bogged down a little towing our 35' Weekend Warrior, but most 3/4 trucks would. That's a heavy bastard. Has made it to the White Mountains and through 7 mile and Salt River with no issues other then the truck getting warm because of slow speeds, being behind a semi.

Nv5600 is much better than. The auto. My dad's is the auto, but the previous owner added a gear vendors OD unit which is awesome.

300RUM Report post Posted July 6, 2017 This is not a problem that is isolated to Dodge pickup trucks. I'm a commercial driver and late last year I got a new Peterbilt 579. It has a Cummins ISX 15 with the new DEF emissions system. I have already been towed in twice this year because the computer thought it was out of DEF when the tank was 3/4 full. If the computer thinks there's something wrong with the DEF it is going to pull the plug. For those of you who like manual Transmissions you will probably get a real treat in a few years. This tractor came with a 10 speed manual that is operated by a computer. It has been a little difficult to get used to.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted July 6, 2017 If the nox module doesn't see a change it will throw a fault. That's caused by no add blue, low add blue, air in the system, scr pump bad, scr tank level sensor, scr purity sensor, all can give implausible readings. I haven't seen any high temp concerns but have read bulletins of below freezing concerns. It's usually an issue with how it injects. Like mentioned earlier, infant stages of using it. It'll get better.
