Hoss50 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Try comfort experts. I don't know if they do 24hr service though. If they do it tell them Harley from Sigler sent you.

My Rights As An American Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Thanks everyone! Most companies we could get a hold of had no availability until Thursday earliest. I think we got it figured out. Blew both fuses on the roof unit. Never fun climbing on the roof while recovering from a severely broken leg! But I will say that neighbors sure can be awesome! My neighbor was an electrician and helped me figure it all out. Thanks again!!! This is why this site is so much better than most others!

tjhunt2 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Your awesome TJ,always trying to help out. I couldn't imagine having a family going without ac in this heat for any length of time. Just the right thing to do. TJ
My Rights As An American Report post Posted June 27, 2017 Thanks TJ. Very kind offer, as always!!! Running ok right now. Guess that is what I get for having an air conditioner from 1978! Probably time to get something newer, but everyone I know who had a new air conditioner had it die within a few-about five years. My theory has always been, why change what is not broken? (Of course, I say that and then things break!)
Hoss50 Report post Posted June 27, 2017 They don't build things like they used to. That applies to the A/C world also. It doesn't matter what brand you buy. You do get better equipment with better brands, but if you make it the whole 10 year warranty period without needing something replaced under warranty you are the exception. It could be a $5 capacitor, but something isn't going to last all 10 years, especially here. This heat bakes capacitors. No breakage means no service which means no work for service techs. Nitemann Report post Posted June 27, 2017 I was pretty much in the same boat. Had a 38 year old unit that kept plugging along thinking older is better not to mention laying out that $5K plus was tough. Bit the bullet last year after the unit started having serious issues. Best money I ever spent, electric bill is half of what it used to be and unit cools the house better than the old unit ever did.
