Trail Camera Bracket Question

Recommended Posts

So I've been playing around with my trail camera bracket design. The pics below are what it has evolved into. I've been using it on all my camera's out in the field. Its quick and easy to set up and adjust the tilt and pan planes on uneven terrain. I'll take a small torpedo level with me and get it just right, part of my OCD issues.

So my question is-do you think there is market out there for them and if so, what would you pay for something like this?, (camera box not included, bracket assembly only). I really enjoy making them and another excuse to get some welding time in. Any feedback is welcomed.

Thanks, Al

Pwrguy-I too bought something similar to that for my first camera, but in my opinion, they are way overpriced. I was on the verge of purchasing another one for my second camera, then pondered the notion that I could come up with something just as functional that might be more affordable.

"Trying to position a camera without a bracket...pain in the butt!!!", +1 on that.

""Can someone just walk up to my cam and change the direction and tilt?""

You bet. Just depends on how destructive they make the decision to be. I'd rather them do that then too break it or take it. I've had elk find a camera and "re-position" it with their snozzes and tongue licks. The next time I took my step ladder with me and put it higher up, out of reach.

The mini-mount looks like it would work on a tree that is "plumb" and if you could get the height just right. Most of the time, the challenging trees are in the perfect spot. I hung another one just yesterday.

Trees like this started me down the path of designing my own bracket.

What I see so far looks nice but does little to prevent the theft of the entire camera and the box. There needs to be higher security measures taken to keep the criminals at bay.

Here is a better pic of my setup. My philosophy is locks are there to keep the honest people honest. If the knuckleheads really want it, they are going to take it. I've been real happy with the lower end WGI camera's to limit my risk/loss, in the event it occurs. Placed in a lockbox, cable and masterlock and roll the dice.......

I pick up my cameras every year on black friday from BPS online. They always offer a few WGI models.
