tough year

Recommended Posts

1 year 2 days and about 18 hours since I finished off my last can of Copenhagen. I would think it would be a little easier by now, but that craving has never gone away.

I can't imagine how hard that would be. I do know my dad has tried to stop several times without any success. Keep up the good work!

Quit dipping after 42 years. It was 10 years ago April. My worse cravings still come when I am hunting. Something about sitting a waterhole or glassing from a mountain triggers a craving that I can hardly resist. I dip the same herbal snuff longshooter uses. It does help.

After 1 year 2 days and 20 hours, you are home free! Congrats! I just passed my 17 year anniversary Cope free. Cold turkey is the way to go with exercise!

I tried "chew" when I was young. Lucky for me I sat between two Cherokee kids on the school bus with a folgers can spitting brown skoal spit into it. I had to be 6-7 years old. The smell on that bus ride made it impossible to ever put a dip in my mouth, even though every single kid I grew up with in the Oklahoma sticks had a chew in constantly.

I can't go any further without pointing my own hypocrisy. To this day I love a good cigar. My oldest showed up the other day with a dip in and a cigarette in his hand. How do I tell him I don't approve when he's doing what myself and everyone else around him is doing at some level?

My hat is off to you for kicking what my mom calls "the nastiest habit ever".

We're imperfect people, but striving to overcome the vices you dislike in your life shows a LOT of character. I'll be keeping you in my mind and prayers.

You can do it, I know it.

Good work. Keep it up. My brother and dad both smoked and dipped...I think what saved me was being allergic to smoke and taking a big sip of dip spit when I was a kid.

After chewing Copenhagen for nearly ten years I'm now a year and one month cope free. After the first few months the cravings lessened for me gradually as time went on, although I'll still have a pretty strong craving every now and then. Driving was when I had my strongest cravings so I started keeping sunflower seeds in my truck to distract me

Smokes 22 years ago quit

Alcohol 13 years ago

Chew 16 months.

I miss a cold beer more than anything. The NA works for a fix.

Keep up the good fight and don't cave from pressure from those who still do it.
