lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 14, 2017 The .280AI is coming along very nicely. Started testing the 175 Elite Hunter today. But also working on the 168 HVLD. Both with H1000 & RL23. I had 5 different charge weights that were all under 1/2" (3 using H1000, and 2 using RL23 well over 3000fps), but this 3 shot group @ 2940fps over H1000 had a way of standing out....

Big or Bust Report post Posted October 15, 2017 2940 with 175's Lance?
lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 16, 2017 2940 with 175's Lance? 168 HVLD @ 2938 average. I had a few hotter, but 1 or 3 would have very slight ejector marks. Allvirgin brass though. But, I did get some good speeds with the 175 Elite Hunter too. Up to 2954 when I got any pressure. Can't wait to shoot some groups with them. RL23 is giving good speeds. I hope they give as good of accuracy as H1000.

lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 16, 2017 Believe me, I have a magnifying glass with me when I am shooting a ladder test to check for the slightest sign of pressure. I would love to keep the 175s up around 2900-2920 if I can get them shooting good.
Big or Bust Report post Posted October 16, 2017 Oh I believe you Lance, not what I was suggesting whatsoever buddy. Sorry if it came across that way. A 175 at 2900+ plus is a beast....

lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 25, 2017 Thanks to Wampuscat, I now have 300 of the new 6.5mm 150gr. SMKs on their way to my house! I just resized 2 pieces of my fired 6.5 SS brass, and they have a nice sharp 40° shoulder now. Can't wait to start load development. I have 16 fore forming loads left to shoot with the 142 SMK @ 3109, and all 100 pieces will be ready to go.

WampusCat Report post Posted October 26, 2017 Happy to help. Lance, what is your barrel length on that Sherman? You plan to work these up with H-1000 or RL26?
lancetkenyon Report post Posted October 26, 2017 26" barrel on my 6.5 SS. I will start with RL26, as it has been working great with the 142 SMK in my fire forming loads.
