Got home and cleaned the bore. Then, mounted the Seekins 20MOA Picatinny rail, and mounted the Premier Heritage Light Tactical 3-15×50.

Total weight of scoped rifle: 8lbs 15oz. Not bad at all. About 6-7 ounces more than my dream weight, but still a very manageable carry weight. I shaved a total of 2lbs 9oz off the rifle from when it was a .25-06AI.

The scope clears the new Proof Research Sendero Light just fine. But I had to clearance my scope cap ring just a hair. I will probably go just a bit more.

Scope cover swings open without touching the barrel. Scope cap ring needed a touch of work.

I had seated some 168 Berger HVLDs to check seating depth starting points when I went to pick it up today. Shortest is actually .020" longer than book max COAL for the 168 HVLD. I went up in .040" increments from there.

I opted for a SAAMI reamer, and not a long throated chamber, knowing I won't be running anything over the 168 HVLD. So the 168 HVLD touching the lands is still .0600" longer COAL than the Berger SAAMI spec. So I get to start testing with them seated out a bit more than factory loads.

I will get some good photos of the rifle later. The work on it is awesome. Some custom work, hand shaping (who else has heard of the Remington "Legacy" bolt handles other than me?), turning muzzle brake down to barrel contour and making sure it is timed and concentric with the barrel, bedding the stock, opening up the channel, etc.

Look for load development to start very soon. Stay tuned. Plans are to test the 168 Berger HVLD, 160 Sierra TMK, and a 145 Barnes LRX for hunting in the 12s.

Awesome stuff. Look forward to seeing your load development. Do you have any experience with the 145 LRX on game? That is the bullet I will be shooting this year. I'd say to report back on the performance after this season, but I am hoping for my own "report back" by mid-October.

I have used the 6.5mm 127 LRX on a deer at 637 yards (Taylor last year), and it dropped immediately with a well placed shot.

Also, a .308" 175 LRX on an elk @ 160 yards. Elk went 10 yards.

I have a great load worked up with the 168 LRX for my 7RM too.

Several other game animals with Barnes bullets. .257" 100 TTSX, .257" 100 TSX, ,277" 130 XBT & 150 XFB, 7mm 140 TSX.

Good to her. I have heard great reviews on the TTSX, but not much in the LRX. Your experience with the LRX's put a big smile on my face thinking about the meat that will soon be down at the hands of my LRX load......now if I can just shoot as good as Taylor.

Got some test loads worked up for the .280AI. Not going to have time to do a full load workup before my elk hunt, but I want something shooting decent so I can use it as my back-up back-up rifle. 168 HVLD & 160 TMK are touching the lands. 145 LRX is .0500" jump per Barnes started recommendation.

Eric got the rechambering done on the 6.5 SS, trued up the new bolt, and put it back together. Next is the new muzzle brake and then Cerakote!
