lancetkenyon Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Got a present in the mail today. New barrel, with no work done to it yet, like cut and thread tenon, chamber, cut end off, thread and crown barrel, I already lost over 1lb. My Shilen Match @ 28" weighs around 4lbs 3oz. A lot of you might remember my poll thread asking for preference between a 6.5-06AI or a .280AI. This should give a hint to my final decision. It will be finished at 26" plus a brake. I am going with a Hawkins 3 port brake. Proof "Sendero Light" contour Needs a touch more in letting in the Manners EH1
lancetkenyon Report post Posted June 21, 2017 LRI did the bolt flute. Super fast turnaround. I sent it USPS Priority, and got it back completed in 6 days.

300RUM Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Back to shipping gun parts? It doesn't sound like there was any drama this time. I have a very similar barrel blank sitting on my workbench. I decided to give Proof a try rather than go with spiral fluted steel. My parents just moved so my father and I had to load up and move our shop machinery. Having that blank in my hands and the lathe currently out of operation is the definition of stress.

cjl2010 Report post Posted June 21, 2017 They both sound awesome. If you haven't already, check out trigger tech triggers. I tried one in my new 6.5 and It feels quite a bit better than both my shilens. Crazy smooth break and super fast reset. Can't wait to see your progress on these. briant_az Report post Posted June 21, 2017 Always love to see your new builds Lance! Ive really been thinking about putting a proof barrel on my 280ai. I never want to take it hunting because it's so heavy! What did you pick the barrel up for? And are you going to have PCR do all the work?
