BeardownAZ Report post Posted June 14, 2017 Thinking of camping sometime this summer with the kids somewhere different. Kinda like the idea of being able to fish bass, catfish and trout all in the same lake. Usually camp near Alpine/ Big Lake but thought about changing it up this year. Any thoughts on Fools Hollow/Show Low lake or any others nearby? Camping area??
biglakejake Report post Posted June 14, 2017 in my twenty years on the mountain i have not seen or heard of fishing as good at fool hollow and scotts as it is this year. huge channel cats and trout to 20". lots and lots of trout-we will see if they bite when the water warms. try a dry camp on blue ridge mtn or brown creek if you want to get away from town a little. both are just east of scotts. lee

bigorange Report post Posted June 14, 2017 I've always enjoyed camping at Fool Hollow (although tough to get RV/trailer spaces on weekends...plan well ahead and make reservations if that's your plan) and glad to hear the fishing is hot there this year. I've always fished with the kids there and never caught much. That's usually my expectation fishing with the kids though...more playing than fishing and catching. Nice lake for swimming and kayaking too.

Rag Horn Report post Posted June 14, 2017 My family has liked camping at canyon creek area. Trout fishing/playing in the creek and the kids loved the fish hatchery. We were there during the week and were mostly alone. Not really close to show low but my 2 cents anyway.
