Can they tow a ranger in our mountains in northern az? Are they worth the price? I'm looking to possibly downsize from a dodge diesel to one of these and before I make a trip down to test drive I would see what you guys think about em. Thanks!! stanley Report post Posted June 14, 2017 I bought a new one two years ago (2015). I had a Yukon XL when my three kids were younger. Got a LOT of good use out of that SUV!! Lots of 'family' room in that, and it was almost mandatory because on any given trip, both around town and road trips, we had friends or others with us. We would pack that baby-up full of all kinds of gear/crap, and GO!! My kids are all in college or beyond now, so I down-sized and went with the Tacoma. Bought the 4 door long-bed (long beds were a bit tougher to find...). I absolutely LOVE mine, but depending on what type of gear you are packing on your excursions, it might be a little small for a family. Could definitely work, but you will have to make some adjustments for sure, from what you are used to, IMO. Regarding towing, sorry, but I don't have any first hand knowledge of that (nor have I even looked at the towing capacity on my manual...). The V6 motor seems to have PLENTY of power for any hills/grades in the state that I have encountered, but I would kind of question putting that kind of towing stress on it over the long run. Maybe someone else can chime in. All that being said, I absolutely LOVE my Tacoma and plan on keeping it a VERY long time (and then likely buying another one). I'm in the cult!!! I always regretted selling my last Tacoma and even tried to locate the guy I sold it to 5 years later to try to buy it back. Here is a pic of my first Tacoma, a 2005 double cab off Road 4x4. Norteno Report post Posted June 14, 2017 If you need to use a car seat forget it. You'll have to move the passenger seat up a bit for room. I've got a newborn and a 2 year old and it is tight with a family of 4. I'll be selling soon and buying a Sierra 1500. Got trade in price one year after I bought mine and trade in price was only a thousand less then what I paid. Ive had 3 of them but it was my daily driver. we have always had a bigger vehicle for hauling the kids around. Lots of room in the 4 door Tundra and surprisingly the Tundra sells for about the same or even less than the Tacoma Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
HNTNGUY Report post Posted June 14, 2017 I have both a 17 Tacoma and a 17 4Runner. If you need room in the rear for kids/ passengers the front seats will have to be moved forward in the Tacoma.
