Art Dillman became my father in law back in 83!

Spent many outings hunting, grilling and shooting a lot of bull!

Art passed away June 1 peacefully at the age of 82!

Worked til the day he died! Hard nosed as hockey sticks and give the shirt off his back for you!

Art asked me 5 years ago to build a casket for him and then two years ago he scared the crap out of us so I hurried home and put a casket together for him!

RIP old man, you were tired and have moved on to the other side!

Sorry for your loss. It has to be hard to build a casket for someone close to you who is still alive.

The worst thing about getting older is all the people we looked up to when we were younger are at that age. On the flip side that is some great wood working right there.

Nice work Jeff , !! Does tbe lid open all as one or did you split it so tbe top 1/3 openes separately? Dad & I have built a few very similar , made the top one piece then cut it in two pieces so just 1/3 opened up for tbe viewing , but after cutting it sometimes doesn't want to line up as well , i made my granddads w elk antler handles , & then we built one with stirrup handles . I like your cinch closers alot , mind if I "borrow" your idea on that ?

Sorry for your loss brother !

Art didn't want a viewing so I just kept the lid one piece!

Building a casket for someone you care about is a pretty spiritual experience and in this case since he was still alive fun cause I got to send him pictures!

The hinges on the other side are just loops of rope stapled in!

My boys, Penny's husband and I dug the grave and covered it up!

Nothing on that casket is patented so feel free to steal any ideas, I just tried to make it fit the man!!!

That was tbe next question what kind of hinges you used on tbe back side of it .,,

Yea my grandads I carved hunting scenes into it w a Dremel tool , making it personal like you say to fit the man .

You do awesome work as always !
