buglethemin Report post Posted June 1, 2017 250 bucks in cheap 1x6 pine some 1/4 inch plywood on the drywall screwed into the studs and painted black. Vinegar and steel wool to treat the 1x6. Paint. Sanding and stain and then install. It's all done. An easy project for under 300 $ and way less then buying old barn wood.
brademan76 Report post Posted June 1, 2017 Looks great! Was the plywood even necessary though? I would imagine those 1x6 would hold onto drywall (painted black) just fine? I'm not carpenter at all, just thinking out loud.

WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted June 1, 2017 Looks great!! Take what I say with a grain of salt. I am in no way trying to degrade the good job you did, but most barn wood is a light gray and even yellow if it is on the south side. Even still I like it a lot. Snapshot Report post Posted June 1, 2017 Very nice looking. Another trick to distress pine, is to put a wire brush wheel in a drill, and run it up and down the grain. Its a lot of work, but it has a pretty cool effect.
