Alaska Fishing Trip

Recommended Posts

The only advice I have for you is to go eat at Chinooks and order the scallop mac n' cheese. It's a life changing experience.

Some of the charters supply rubber boots and rain gear. After that just layer cause it can get warm when/if the sun shines.

You need a set of Grundens or Helly Hansen for raingear. They will last you a lifetime and are not that expensive. You can order them online. Take a seasick patch if you ever get sick. It can be rough out there. Good Time Charlies is the place with the huge bouncer with a .44 on his side. You can't miss it. Take lots of cash when you go.

Helly Hansen is the right recommendation, for sure.

What time of year will you be going, that might give us a better idea of what to expect weather-wise? Only one day????

Helly's & Grinders are definitely the best, but take something lighter too if it gets much above 60° you will burn up in them!

I have my work boots that are water resistant but not water proof is that good enough? Or just buy some rubber boots. Weather should be cloudy and some rain at 50 degrees

Another vote for Helly Hansen. They make them in camo. Xtra Tough rubber boots, very comfortable. Synthetic or wool layers underneath. Have fun!

Tell the captain what brand of work boots you have. Some want boots that won't marr the deck.

I talked to him and he didn't really talk about that when I brought up my boots. He said it was up to me, he saws it common to see guys in tennis shoes
