I remember watching this horse with what I considered a silly name, win the Triple Crown while setting track records at each race.

Secretariat was also known as Big Red at the barn. A nick name he shared with a great cousin many times removed, Man O War.

Here's to the animal companions that enrich our lives. Whether it's a dog that is always on the hunt or a horse that refuses to lose.

I grew up around quarter horses. Great way to spend your weekend, at the races. Started at dewey downs and made it to the breeders classic.

I always loved the names. My favorite as a child was jet set mama and golden express. These pics bring back great memories

Love the big races and the feel. Don't really care for the elite money side of things so it's kind of bitter sweet. I was around the track a lot back in the day from mucking stalls to betting races then I married into a race family. Nothing quite like a brisk morning next to the rail with the ponies shaking tha grand as they fly by. I took on and trained and re homed a few retired ponies myself and man are they fast.

you can call it B.S. you can say what you like

I actually picked the Kentucky Derby winner today with out even knowing what horses where what

no clue to anyhing related to the horses or jockeys

my father inlaw - big time track bet'n over the yrs - he always prefers #5 green and will bet that horse almost every race

to honor him today I told my wife - you watch if Norm'y has a bet on the race-- it'll win this yr. #5 green - at 85 he's slowed but

he is always dreaming - no lie!

A 9-2 payout I hear. Big payday for those that bet on the winner. I don't know anything about horse racing. I lose too much on football as it is.
