Delw Report post Posted April 19, 2017 I had a simple goal like that too many many years ago in unit 9. after hundreds of trips up there I still find lopes where I never thought they would be. up until about 8-10 years ago I was in unit 9 15-20 times a year if not more in the earlier years. coolest animals in Az are lopes. good luck
WhtMtnHunter Report post Posted April 19, 2017 Do you have the 1st or 2nd hunt there? Or were you lucky enough to get the muzzy tag? Cool pics!
idgaf Report post Posted April 20, 2017 Do you have the 1st or 2nd hunt there? Or were you lucky enough to get the muzzy tag? Cool pics! 1st archery hunt. I am leaning towards focusing in on the second buck (3rd picture). He is alone in a stalkable area away from roads. Lots of time to decide.

Pics of them from a couple of weeks ago. they put on some very noticeable and somewhat impressive growth when I saw them yesterday. I forgot to check the batteries in my camera. bonecollector777 Report post Posted May 7, 2017 That suburban buck looks like he has great mass. If he puts on some good length he could be giant.
idgaf Report post Posted May 8, 2017 That suburban buck looks like he has great mass. If he puts on some good length he could be giant. I didn't realize how much ahead of the curve that he really is. I pushed him a little bit to see how he would react, The 18 does with him get in the way, but I did get into range a couple of times.

PelaPapas Report post Posted June 19, 2017 Nice pics some good looking goats in there! Can't wait to head up to that country up north. After softball is over I'm going to take the family out for a little weekend getaway. Much needed from this heat down here in Tucson.
Flatlander Report post Posted June 20, 2017 Early scouting is fun, especially with goats. But the second those does start cycling, everything changes. Bucks come out of nowhere, others disappear into thin air. Be sure to spend as much time as possible the week or two before the hunt.
idgaf Report post Posted June 25, 2017 Early scouting is fun, especially with goats. But the second those does start cycling, everything changes. Bucks come out of nowhere, others disappear into thin air. Be sure to spend as much time as possible the week or two before the hunt. It has been my experience (4 archery tags + this one) that the rut really doesn't kick in until the first week of September. I am hoping with the 8/11 start that they are still solo. I am trying to fine tune everything, from pushing them to see their escape routes to learning the nuances of the fields they live in. To finding every conceivable indention that may hold water. I am stuck in hades, AKA Scottsdale, for work until the eve of my hunt. I have limited vacation and two tags (elk and antelope), I am hoping to only need one vacation day for me antelope hunt, that's why I am overcompensating with scouting/training. I will spend the next month upping my practice shooting to 5 days a week to get the muscle memory as much in place as possible. suburban from yesterday Flare full sized with his friends
300RUM Report post Posted June 26, 2017 I have only had 1 archery goat tag. Unit 1 years back. I got skunked but had a blast. Suburban antelope can be very bold. I drive for a freight company and used to take trailers to the Ace Hardware warehouse in Prescott Valley. One day I was hooking 2 trailers together on the road next to the warehouse and heard CLOMP, CLOMP, CLOMP ???? A heard of antelope marched down the middle of the road, past an idling Kenworth, stopped and watched me hook up the air lines between the trailers then headed down the road to get a drink at a nearby ranch. 300RUM Report post Posted June 26, 2017 Looks like you got a prairie dogging spot there too. I noticed them also. I wonder if the antelope hangs out there on purpose and uses them as lookouts?
