No Tag Soup for Me

Recommended Posts

Well I just got back and see some of you have also filled your tags, Way to go! I have been watching a buck since August and would swear he would go 90-95 inches. He had a little ground shrinkage coming out of velvet but I am proud to have put my tag on him. I had his bedding area and feeding areas pegged and on openining morning I tipped him over at 300 yards. I put a tape on him and he grosses at 88 and some change.

I then went to New Mexico and shot my first black powder coues. Definetly a little smaller (around 76) but I am extremely happy. I did see one buck feeding on an almost open south slope that was pushing 100 inches but when I got into range he disappeared. I am going to have to buy my own muzzleloader now and do some practicing. This buck was killed with open sights at 84 yards.

Looks like the best kind of "Double take".

Congratulations on a decent pair of deer. Good luck on the new smokepole hobby! Looks like you are off to a fine start!
