FS 300 Rim Road

Recommended Posts

Was wondering if the road has been opened yet in the forests lakes area. Looked on the FS service website and didn't see any info on it.

Thanks

I spoke the Heber Office last Monday and was told they had to send in a plow so SRP could put in the meter at WCL a few days before and were planning on opening the road around the 15th. Said they had just got 18", which I was surprised he said that as I flew over the lake on Sunday afternoon an my way back from NY and didn't see any snow.

Youth turkey starts on the 21st, so worse case scenario another two weeks. If it's like any other year, it'll be open here pretty quick.

It varies. A couple of years ago it was already open and a few years before that it was mid May.

One of the state's top high country spots for family fishing will be accessible! Starting this Thursday, FR 300 to Woods Canyon Lake is scheduled to be open, according to the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests.

The rest of the road will be closed due to 2-3 foot snow drifts, and the Coconino National Forest side also has numerous drifts to remove in order to to make that part of the FR 300 clear. We will advise when the winter closure has been lifted.

Enjoy!

I use to take my kids to 4a for Jr. turkey and forest service always opened 300 rd 1 or 2 days before the opener. I once drove in during the middle of the night and got stuck in a snowdrift while pulling a trailer. Took 8 hours to dig out.

Does anyone know if the road is open on the West end along HWY 87? My wife and I were planning on going camping in that area, but if the road is close we will have to make other plans.
