Well i headed up north today. All the way there i saw truck after truck pulling trailers and quads. Every one seemed to be so glad to have drawn a tag this year. Every gear packed truck i passed seemed to look at me with a smile , BUt behind that smile i know they silently said HAHA WE GOT A TAG AND YOU DID NOT. Well i got to forest lakes and hooked up to my camp trailer and for a moment i even felt as if i was going to go hunting or something. I hitched the truck and as i did i felt as though i was being watched by something. So i turned around to see cow elk heads lined under the butcher trailer in forest lakes right next to my trailer. Yet another slap in the face saying HAHA you have no tag. So i headed off the rim with trailer in tow back to the valley of the sun, Because our storage time has come to an end for the season. As i am headed off the rim I am passed by not one but two trucks with BULLS in the bed. Not very big ones but BULLS none the less. They had the meanest little smiles as if they said HAHA YOU DID NOT DRAW ANY TAGS. I wish i could wish all you tag holders good luck but after all that abuse i just can't make myself say it.

SO G_ _ D L_ _ _ _ to you guys the next few weeks. Maybe i will sleep in the trailer tonight and wake up early and build a small fire in the back yard and act like i am going hunting. :( :(

And casey if you say it i will hunt you down and remove the tires from your truck.

Don't feel bad, guys. I qualified for a pioneer's license last year, but couldn't draw a deer or elk tag in 2006 or 2007 to put it to use. I don't like swatting bugs or birds much, but I hated to see the license I waited 70 years to get go unused, so I broke down a couple weeks ago and fished the Little Colorado near the cabin for the first time in five years. Caught and released two Apache trout in 20 minutes and went home. It made me feel better knowing that license hasn't gone to waste. Maybe 2008 will bring me a tag.

What's a pioneer license? Does that mean you're really old or something? :D

Yep. Really, really old. Game and fish issues them to anyone who reaches 70 and has lived in the state for more than 20 consecutive years.

The actuaries figure we are too old to damage fish and wildlife populations (and they're right).
