Apatkelley Report post Posted October 25, 2007 I took my nephew on his first hunt this past weekend. He drew a unit 1 Jr. only antlerless elk tag. It was a pretty tough hunt. We got to our our trailer just after dark the night before the hunt and the elk were screaming. At times they were so loud that It almost sounded like they were standing on the porch. We got up and he had to walk at least 200 yards before we got set up for a shot. One shot later with the 7mm-08 and it was over. Then my neighbor got his tractor and helped us load the elk up and we took it back to our place for processing. My first hunt didn't go quite like that...
