metau Report post Posted March 28, 2017 So 1/2" group at 300 yards and then a 12" group at 500 yards? Way more information about what the actual issue is would help people point you in the right direction.
W.O.T Report post Posted March 28, 2017 Solution.... be one of the "sheep" on this forum and keep your shots to 300 yards or less. Win-win

lancetkenyon Report post Posted March 29, 2017 In all honesty, with the zero information you have given, here are my initial thoughts on why a rifle could shoot 1/2" groups at 300 yards, but completely open up (since you haven't given a definition of what that is) at 400+. 1. Bullet instability 2. Parallax issue with scope 3. Poor consistency of ammunition 4. Shooter induced error Like the famous quote from Jerry McGuire says, "Help me help you." Give us details for an educated & informed answer. There are a ton of guys on here with a lot of shooting experience. All they need is data to help solve the mystery.

Any help would be nice. like everyone has said spill your guts on everything about your load you're rifle and your experience a lot of guys on this form have a lot experience with shooting long range or just shooting in General ! Don't take any of the comments to heart it's fun banter but I'm sure you could come up with an answer if spill everything ! And there's plenty a good gunsmith in the state but I don't think you need to go that route yet .

My guess he doesn't have a parallax adjustment on his scope.
