alaska trip

Recommended Posts

I am putting together my first trip to Alaska, and seeing if anyone recommends an outfit. I want to go for sitka blacktails and do some fishing at the same time. I want a chartered boat that you stay on and fish on. I have heard that some drop crab pods for fresh crab dinners. If anyone has gone and would recommend anyone in perticular let me know.

Thanks

Homer Ocean Charters has a boat on the south end of Kodiak in Olga bay. I believe someone from CW.com is up there right now. Maybe he will report to us. Several in Flagstaff have used Homer Ocean. Have you talked with Tim Neal at Bull Basin Archery in Flag? Kodiak had a winterkill last winter, but was not as bad on the southern end, but I heard a report that the mountain goat population was hurt bad, acccording to G&F air surveys.

There are boats that go out of Kodiak, and there is an outfit that hunts Larsen Bay

Don't know much about SE alaska

primetime,

I'm going up in less than 2 weeks to hunt Kodiak Island out of Akhiok with Alaska Coastal Marine. I hope to have a bunch of pics to post when I get back.

I just got back about 2 weeks ago from a Sitka hunt on Kodiak. The hunt was based out of a lodge and they would take you in a small boat from there to drop you off at various locations to hunt and then pick you up in the evening. The outfit is called Larsen Bay Lodge and they have combined deer hunting, fishing, and duck hunting trips.

I will try and get a post together today to show the results of our trip. I have been pretty busy since getting back and just haven't had time to get a good post together.
