I'm looking to buy a scope for my wife's new rifle and would like your opinion on what way to go.

Budget?

How often will your wife shoot it?

If its just the wife's and she shoots it 20 rounds a year before the hunt and not reaching out past 350 yards a standard 250-500 dollar range scope will work. If she shoots 4-5 times a year roughly 60-150 rounds a year maybe look into a Sightron, vortex pst or something in that 800-1000 dollar range.

It will not be shot all that much, she is mainly an archery hunter but has been putting in for some late rife hunts. If and when she draws one she will shoot a lot to get ready but I would have to say I'd like to keep it within 600 yards. We will use it on some youth hunts as well, price is not an issue but I don't want to put a high dollar scope on a safe queen if you know what I mean. I would like to be able to dial to the yardage and not rely on bdc reticals.

Leupold VX2 6-18x40. Light weight, repeatable and with good glass will get her to 600 and them some pretty easy.
