GameHauler Report post Posted October 19, 2007 I purchase a synthetic stock for my Remington model 700 BDL from coues7 I am getting mixed input about having it beded. So I am looking for more input. One other thing, the front screw seems to only go in about 2, 2-1/2 turns Thanks, Mike
Apatkelley Report post Posted October 21, 2007 How does it shoot? If it shoots well and you are satisfied with the group size you are getting I wouldn't touch it. I've had mixed results with bedding and adopted the idea that if it ain't broke don't fix it. I'm not sure about the screw only going in 2.5 turns. Good luck!! GreyGhost85 Report post Posted October 23, 2007 ive got an aluminum bedding block in my rifle....seems to work great and shoots 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards...dont know if it makes any difference, and i would agree that if it aint broke, dont fix it... Red Rabbit Report post Posted October 23, 2007 Have not heard of a good bedding job making accuracy worse. How is it shooting now without the bedding? How did it shoot in the old stock before? What kind of stock did you get- SPS? Think I would want more than 2 thread lengths into the receiver.
GameHauler Report post Posted October 23, 2007 the gun shot well with the old stock. I have not shot it yet with the new stock. I am not sure but I beleive Remington made the stock as there is a R on the butt that looks like Remingtons Logo. How much weight will bedding add? I went to the new stock to lightin up the gun, Would hate to put the weight right back on Mike
Hooked_on_Coues Report post Posted October 24, 2007 I was discussing taking weight off my rifle with an old gunsmith one day. He said " you would be much better off to take ten pounds off your butt than one pound off the rifle". wow, that hurt; the truth sometimes does....
