Reloading question

A friend has reloader 15 and Hornady GMX 80 grain, but he does not have the hornady book and looked at the reloader 15 data and the hornady is not listed, should he use the data for bullets the same weight on that data?

I've done that with other powders and bullets. I've never had issues as long as the bullet weights are the same.

He should download to start, no matter the load. As long as the bullet type is similar with the same powder I would do it, and have done it a lot in the past. He just needs to start low and work up.

I've not reloaded monolithic bullets yet but I've seen them in their own section in reloading manuals.

I can check my Hornady book later, but if he looks at Barnes data for same weight bullet, that should get him close. Start low and work up as usual.

243 80 grain,

32.6 2900 fps

34.3 3000 FPS

36.0 3100 FPS

37.7 3200 FPS

39.4 3300 FPS Max

 

Hornady 7th edition. I've found that the book max is pretty laxed I would start at 37.0 and work up there. That's just me and what I've experienced with this book data.
