AzPlumber Report post Posted March 3, 2017 Lots of speculation in this thread but they actually spend most of that time cruising hunting forums for negative comments about the Dept. and removing those apps from the draw.
654321 Report post Posted March 3, 2017 Just watched bits and pieces of the commission meeting, looks like there was at least a 10% increase in applications this year and the presenter said they weren't quite done processing all the paper apps yet, also some very interesting proposed rule changes coming. One change had to do with trail camera's, I didn't catch all of it so I'm not sure if it was within a 1/4 mile of a trail camera being near water or a 1/4 mile of being within a trail camera but your weren't going to be able to take wildlife near a trail camera. Another one that caught my eye was it looked like they were going to make archery fall within the 1/4 mile of occupied structure rule just like firearms. Those were just a couple. Alpinebullwinkle Report post Posted March 4, 2017 Being and ole geezer I am thankful to AGFD that we now find out elk tag success/failure by late March or early April. In the 1970's and early 1980's we had to be much more patient and would not find out the important outcome until usually late July. Made it tough on planning hunting vacations that late for families and took a lot of the preparation fun out of the event.
azelkhunter69 Report post Posted March 4, 2017 They seem to think they have their act together this year. Got an email saying "draw results will be out later this month". That is a step up from April. Kids waiting for Christmas morning. Good luck guys.

Man, it's almost impossible to get 1/4 mile away from a trail camera these days.

More elitist snobs trying to push "thier way or the hiway" ethics

Alpinebullwinkle Report post Posted March 5, 2017 AGFD doesn't even enforce the "no camping within a 1/4 mile of a tank". Do you really think they would try to enforce hunting within 1/4 mile of a trail camera that is even harder to find?

Do you really think they would try to enforce hunting within 1/4 mile of a trail camera that is even harder to find? I think this - "in such a place that wildlife or domestic stock will be denied access to the only reasonably available water." is the deciding factor on issuing a citation or not.
