Sneaker Report post Posted February 27, 2017 Just looked up the online payment cutoff date(March 16th). Does anyone know the purpose of having over a month between the draw application cutoff (Feb 14th) and the update online payments date? Is it required based on some statute or process they have to perform?
lefty Report post Posted February 27, 2017 I would imagine it takes a while to sort through and input the hundreds of thousands of applicants into the system

ready2hunt Report post Posted February 27, 2017 I would assume sorting the paper apps and working on any hiccups in the system. CLEARLY they (like any company) have a grace period built in.
Hoofnit Report post Posted February 28, 2017 collect interest on all that money for a month...think about it, even at a few % it's a fair chunk.
bigorange Report post Posted February 28, 2017 collect interest on all that money for a month...think about it, even at a few % it's a fair chunk.I've always thought about that with the paper applications...sort of makes me wonder why they're pushing toward online and lose all that interest revenue. Of course online also eliminates all the paper application processing and data entry too.

Red Sparky Report post Posted February 28, 2017 I thought it had to be put into a non-interest bearing account. I didn't think they could get interest on it. Here in NM they have a hold against my card for the amount of my elk tag, deer tag, and hunting license. It shows pending charges to NM G&F. If I draw I am betting the charges will be applied for the proper amount at midnight of April 26th since that is when they release the results. Either way they don't have the money to get interest on but I can't spend it either. They probably do the same thing to cards there, you have until March 22nd to update your card information and then they start hitting them the 27th.
