biglakejake Report post Posted February 21, 2017 horn hunting one muddy day on a 'somewhat' vertical hillside a few years ago i found sumtin. i am a fat man who should not have been on that hillside but the mud was so bad the malpai looked good! anyway it was not a horn. it was what appeared to be a montgomery #2 coilspring trap. had not been set and was wrapped up w/o the drag and obviously had fallen out of someones panniers who was packmule trapping. way too steep for atvs. anyway. this was about 2 miles from whiting boy scout camp in 2010. the pan hinge had been re-worked with a stainless screw and nut and nylon washers-a good set-up-and no trap tag that started in 1979. brings me to the question. when do you think was the last time someone packmule trapped the white mountains? in the nylon age? would luv for someone to claim it lol...we'll arm-rastle for it.... lee
