Lake Pleasant Stiper Fishing - What to expect

Recommended Posts

Didn't the Strippers end up in the lake when they filled it with CAP water after raising the Dam?

I think the strippers ended up in the lake after that rich guy capsized his party barge

During Spring break

I think most everything has already been said. You'll either love it or hate it. It's not impossible to get into schools of 6-8lb fish but more than likely you'll end up catching small stripers the entire time. I guess it would depend on the time of day of your trip? Night time you're gonna drop anchovies and shad off the side of the boat under a green light. Day time they might have you troll or cast with silver spoons/cast masters.

Month of May on the Hudson River, NY...NY state record Striper has to be pushing 70lbs by now, kind of hard for me to be "excited" about even 10lbs stripers... and to fish a stunted population of fish just makes me pissed at the GF dept... hahaha

This may be a dumb question by why do we have such poverty stripers in lake pleaasant?

Over-populated, not enough food to support, GF failure to act...

How does a species like that maintain a healthy population?

Sounds like this could be a bust for us, either way it will be something new and getting excited to head up there on Sunday. Looks like it will be in the high 70s which is not great. I'll take some pics and share

Hit the water at 130 after getting something to eat at Scorpion Bay Marina. Fished Castle Creek area from a pontoon switching off from trolling A-rigs and casting towards shore. There were three of us plus guide. I hooked up first and pulled in a nice large mouth. I guess that is pretty unusual. Fished till dark and the others caught 3 stripers trolling. Saturday the guide's client pulled in 7 by himself. I guess it really does depend on the day. It was pretty frustrating, but I guess that's fishing. At the docks no one else seemed to have had much luck either.

Tipped our guide pretty good because he worked his butt off. He filleted and bagged our catch (a single small bag).

I will probably never striper fish again. If I'm going to spend the time I'll head up to Rim lakes and streams.

In another note, I can't believe how many burros there were on the banks. Must have seen 30. Driving out of there in the dark I sure had my eyes open and foot covering the brake.

You'd have a lot more luck if you'd wait until the water warms up

I live close to pleasant and will go quite often, some nights well do 30 fish between two of us, other nights 10-15, sometimes 3 or 4 fish for an entire night. Just depends.
