GRANDE BEAR Report post Posted September 21, 2004 HEY GUYS, I HAVE A FRIEND WHO IS GOING DOWN TO MEXICO FOR A COUES HUNT, AND I WAS TOLD HE WAS DOWN IN ROCKY POINT IN MAY AND GOT LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET THROWN IN JAIL DOWN THERE OVERNIGHT. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WILL BE A PROBLEM WITH HIM TRYING TO TAKE A FIREARM ACROSS? DO THEY INPUT THESE TYPE OF ARRESTS IN A COMPUTER? IT WASN'T A MAJOR CRIME OR ANYTHING, HE JUST GOT LOUD WITH A SECURITY GUARD AND THE GUARD WAS'NT IN THE MOOD I GUESS AND CALLED THE POLICE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OR IS THERE A NUMBER HE CAN CALL TO FIND OUT?
couesdiehard Report post Posted September 21, 2004 Grande Bear, Luckily there are a couple of experts on this web-site who could answer that question. Kirk Kelso is on this forum a lot and knows the rules. Also you could contact Duwane Adams who advertises on the web-site also. Better to get your answers from folks who make a living following the rules than guessing or listening to some wild stories. couesdiehard
Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted September 21, 2004 You mentioned that was not a major crime so there should be NO problem but if his crime involved guns, drugs, sexual assault etc etc. that's another story. Ernesto C.
More D Report post Posted September 22, 2004 Your buddy was sent to school for one night but it was never reported and no paper work was more than likey done to attach his name to his "offense" Especially if this was during one of the busy week ends down there. That would be guess, but only a guess. Not a major crime, I don't think so. I once had lunch with a lawyer and a judge in Nogales Mex. When we came out I got a parking ticket as I was reading it the judge buddy of mine saw me and said not to worry about it that nothing would ever happen with the ticket. I said cool are you going to "take care of it for me" He laughed and said "no, There is no way they can know about this later" He explained something about a poor computer system. A parking ticket and being in jail are way different but who knows. Tell your buddy to ask a lawyer in Mexico NOT the authorites. Asking the wrong people would only tell them something they might never now!
GRANDE BEAR Report post Posted September 22, 2004 THANKS FOR THE INPUT I DON'T THINK IT WILL BE A PROBLEM BECAUSE TALKING TO HIM HE SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T EVEN CHECK HIS I.D. THEY ONLY TOOK HIS NAME AND OTHER INFO HE PAID A $50 FINE THE NEXT MORNING AND WAS RELEASED WITHOUT ANY PAPERWORK OR ANYTHING. HE SHOULD BE O.K ALBERT
Chef Report post Posted September 23, 2004 He should have paid $75 the night of the arrest and spent the night in his hotel. Trust me. Chef
