Guest oneshot Report post Posted February 4, 2017 I had excellent Bow Hunting this year, even without shooting an arrow at game, went into new-to-me Canyons, passed on some Coues bucks that came within 10yards, spent more time still-hunting then sitting in blinds, put a few people in good spots(some who tagged-out on Coues, some who just got to enjoy what So. Arizona has to offer to Hunters)... I don't have to Kill, but I MUST Hunt...
bojangles Report post Posted February 4, 2017 cool. but it's not the end of bow season, or even the beginning of the end, but perhaps, the end of the beginning.

mattys281 Report post Posted February 4, 2017 Your a better man than me. The buck in the second picture is my favorite kind....legal, in range and looking the other way!! Me too. Always have trouble passing up the easy ones.... are we still talking about deer? I had a great season. Didn't get to hunt quite as much as I wanted, got rained out a couple times. The nice days were real nice though. My daughter had never even seen a buck during hunting season, and she saw a bunch of them with me and my hunting partner this season. Including the biggest live muley I've personally ever laid eyes on. Never got closer than 140 yards, but in 3 encounters we got a few really good looks at him. Sure hope he makes it through til next year.
Speedy Report post Posted February 4, 2017 It was fun but there's next season to look forward too so its never over. Season ended here in WI too and my freezer is empty so bummed about have to buy meat at the store more than anything. I hope I can make it back out there someday and chase those grey ghosts. turbo Report post Posted February 5, 2017 This thicket goes into the Hall of Turbo Shame; "Oh, I will move up on one knee, then sit down perfectly still another 2 hours" and at moment the buck is 5 yards away in the dead ground. Did not harvest in Winter 2016-2017. However, I carried a handmade bow, drank coffee looking at mountains and mesquite, and met cool people. Had a few opportunities, and managed to mess a few up, painfully so. Good thread, to come down from the high of the hunt.

You sir, still practice the art/skill of hunting. It is a pleasure reading your threads and following your path of the art of hunting. Fred
