cjl2010 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 Yes it was a good factory trigger but after shooting my stw with a nice shilen, a factory trigger feels like it is 10 lbs!! The smith who built it had the action. He bought the rifle from an older gentleman a few months ago that bought the gun and stuffed it in the back of a safe. I have never tried a shilen, couldn't figure out if they would work in a LH gun. The Jewel clearly said LH and I hit the order button. My last 2 Rem 700s came with the pro mark x. I do have an effective repair procedure for them. It involves a large hammer.
cjl2010 Report post Posted January 22, 2017 Haha I've never touched a new trigger. General consensus is they aren't that great
lancetkenyon Report post Posted January 22, 2017 What is your H4350 charge weight? 42.5 I bet with a 27" 1:8 twist and 42.5gr. under a 140-143, you are going to be 2850-2880 on virgin brass and new barrel. I bet it speeds up to close to 2900ish after it breaks in. I get 2840 w. 41.5gr. & 2940 w. 43.0gr. now out of a 27.25" Bartlein My barrel gained about 45fps once I had about 90-110 rounds down the barrel in my 6.5 SLR. My .260 pushing a 140 Berger HVLD w. 42.0 H4350 gets 2850 w. 26" Bartlein.

If only these power outages would stop and I could get off call so I can pull the trigger some. Thanks for the references lance.
Cell4soul Report post Posted January 22, 2017 You'll break 2800. I am at 2760 with 41.4 grains of H4350 out of a 24" barrel. I think Lancetkenyon is spot on with his guesstimate.
