dogman68 Report post Posted October 9, 2007 Yeah, High 80's. That's what I was guessing. I happen to know that the crazy lookin' dude with the Nice Johns T-shirt is a dwarf. Mostly in the mind. Always been stunted that way and I guess a few other ways too. I really didn't care anything about the horns but I was sure hoping to find him under a pile of leaves somewhere but didn't find jack. It got pretty crowded around there and as one guy told me, "We have enough guys so that someone will find a track". I guess the group thing is the group thing. AZ Horn Hunter Report post Posted October 10, 2007 First off I want to say that I am aware that Im a (newbie) to this site... I only recently started to hunt whitetail in AZ this year. I have lived here for 7 + years and have only hunted mule deer. ( carp deer) . I did not harvest a ( grey ghost ) this year but did see alot of whitetail does everyday and all day where I was set up. I do not claim to be an expert at anything especially hunting whitetails, but I learned alot this past year. I found more whitetail sheds than mule deer. Let me preface by saying I am a shed hunting idiot and was at the point of being divorced, and have found a ton of horn this year and that is what I really love to do. I also love to bowhunt ( anything from fish to bear ), I have taken alot of game with a bow, but not without help. I know when to give credit when credit is due. If someone gives me a hint on anything and it helps me to harvest an antler or an animal they are due some high fives. That brings me to my next point, I am going to be blunt and if this offends anyone Im sorry, I know for a fact that most of you all know Redbeard. He is a guy that still does it the ( right way) and what I mean about that is ,, He is ethical and fair chase to the letter. I also want to say that Im not trying to kiss his backside either by posting this but Cmon something isn't right here. I also know That the sheds that Randy are holding are first come first ( keep) unless you are told exactly where to start to find them in the first place. I know for a fact from pictures and video that Redbeard has had that area set up long before ( LITTLEBEAR) even set foot in that unit. He had treestands , cameras and if Im correct Little bear shot his first whitetail out of Redbeards stand. I am not trying to sling mud here but sometimes A little common courtesey goes along way. I know that Redbeard isnt going to respond or get mixed up in this because thats not him . When someone posts " that was my camera " ,,, That sound like either your a little immature or you want to make yourself out to be a hero. I have personlly seen that buck and know where it is but guess what.... IT has not been there seen since the cat has been there and that is why Redbeard called Randy in the first place. So now we have a problem,, (And I mean no disrespect to Randy AT all, really I dont. I have heard nothing but good things about him and he is one of the best men at his craft of lion hunting And if I had the money I would love to pay him to take me out.) Let me pose the question.. I have been watching a deer for years now, even showed someone else the deer but none the less he is there year after year. One year he stops coming and there are pictures of LIONS and IM pissed. I call the best Lion hunter in the state to fix the problem and save the deer that I have been after for along time now. I give exact directions to my stand that looks like a bomb went off from all the action . The lion hunter finds the sheds that I was trying to keep somewhat of a secret and now I have no sheds ,, Buck,, or Cat. And to top it off I am being called a liar by saying it was not the buck I was after first. This is not supposed to be a pissing contest. I know Chris and he has given me some advice that has helped me tremendously and I also know he does not lie about anything. I hold him up on a pedistal so to speak when it comes to hunting because he does it the right way and he has showed me time and time again what hard work does for the man.I do not know little bear ,, and mean no disrespect but I bet if you asked him how he found that spot to put his camera he would tell you ??? CHRIS took me there. OH by the way Im not trying to hide behind a computer. Here is my cell # if anyone has any questions or concerns... 928 - 379- 0820 --- RYAN
coueskiller Report post Posted October 10, 2007 Grong my friend, Oh yes loose lips do in fact sink ships, is it just blind luck that there was a convoy of lion hunters in there this past weekend when Doggiestyle and I were in there trying to catch a lion, maybe so but I think not. I know nothing about hunting lions but am learning more everytime I'm out with Grong & The Dogman and totally respect these guys and I share no info with anyone about where we go, not that's it's a secret spot but just out of respect. I have hunted the area where these sheds were found since the late 80's, does that make it my spot, nope as there were many guys that hunted it before me, heck my grandfater hunted it in the 50's. I haven't been in that country in a couple of years and it was nice to get back in there and after seeing those sheds I just might have to hunt it again someday, who knows maybe we will get lucky and find that big buck under a pile of leaves! I think a Fireman must have stumbled onto the area as there was a ton of guys out there this past weekend!! HAHAHA........ Can't we all just get along........ Those guys are just joking around and if you spend any time looking at this stuff, you will discover that. The place the horns were found certainly is not a secret spot by any means. Actually there are people all over it. Earlier in the summer I had been trailing a lion in there so when Chris got the pics and hadn't seen any deer, he told me about it. The season was closed so we had to wait for it to reopen to go back and try and find the lion, which we did. Chris is one of the most ethical hunters I have ever known. I have ridden by that salt like 50 times and really don't care "who it belongs to" as I am not the least bit interested in it or what comes into it. Chris knows that about me. I didn't realize anybody was calling anybody a liar and I sure don't want to be involved in that. I e mailed Chris and told him exactly where I found the horns and they were not in an area that anyone had been looking. Actually they were right by the road and I just picked them up. I'm not a horn hunter and usually just leave them. But to say the deer is not there anymore would be something I would be reluctant to say. Maybe he is just not hitting that particular salt lick.?????? Feel free to call me anytime on my cell 928-821-3803 I like everybody and have no problems that I know of with anybody (other than my wife at times for hunting too much) Regards, Randy
