Curtis Reed Report post Posted January 19, 2017 I am a police detective with a local agency. There is no reason not to release the firearm back to you unless it is evidence in another crime that has not been adjudicated. I release stolen firearms back to victims all the time. Sometimes, even before the crime is adjudicated (if the prosecuting attorney approves). If he was a convicted felon, the state may be prosecuting for Misconduct Involving Weapons and that case may still be pending?

If he was a convicted felon, the state may be prosecuting for Misconduct Involving Weapons and that case may still be pending? the prosecutor said no charges are being filed and if the detective was ok with it, all he needed was pictures and they could release it. The detective approved months ago. It's supposed to be in Tucson or atleast on it's way. I'm going to call the Tucson office today.
DesertBull Report post Posted January 19, 2017 I had a gun stolen and the cops found it at a pawn shop. I had to pay the pawn to get it out. About 5 years later I got a check from the Florence Prison where the thief was incarcerated. He had worked in the prison to pay off his restitution.

muledeerarea33? Report post Posted March 4, 2017 Called today saying it was in Tucson. Drove down at 1pm to fill out paperwork that had to be faxed to Phoenix for a back ground check. Guy told me it would be a few days to hear back (eerrrrrrrr!!!) ok I'll wait. Get back to work and at 1:45 pm he calls and says "can't believe it, background check came back. Your clean as a whistle" by 3pm I'd picked up my pistol with bonus's!! An extra mag, shoulder holster, conceal in pants holster, and belt holster. The extras aren't worth 6 years without it but I'll take it.
muledeerarea33? Report post Posted March 4, 2017 I cleaned it at work. It's been used for sure but not abused. Shot it on my way home from work. Glad to have the first pistol I ever bought back.
