Wife almost got her first deer...

Recommended Posts

Well after spending the morning up in Tucson at Bull Basin Archery fine tuning her bow, my wife and I went out on her first deer hunt. We had an area picked out where they travel each evening and I sat high to glass and watch if anything was coming her way. After coming back from a quick look down the other side I looked up to a deer running right by the tree she was under. Couple seconds later she texted me "I just fu***** missed." I went down and found her arrow with no blood on it. I told her I missed a whole bunch of times and that a clean miss is better than a bad hit. Well, that didn't stop her from crying. I felt bad but I think she's even more hooked now and even more determined. We're gonna try again tomorrow then I got to work till next weekend. Gonna get her her first deer yet!

First shot on her first hunt?! Thats outstanding! Im not going to admit how many I missed before I finally connected, but tell her it happens to all of us, so no sad feelings over it. Cant dwell on a miss. Good luck to you guys.

Remember the "agony of defeat" from the NBC sports theme, with the ski jumper tumbling? Maybe the older members do. Anyway, bowhunting this state can be rendezvous with defeat. In many ways, that is the juice.

a buddy of mine shooting at his first deer in Nebraska, I remember watching the arrow sail way over its back. I asked him if he used his first pin. He said yes "the first from the bottom". All the range time went out the window when buck fever hit.

Thought I would resurrect this old post. She had another chance in January and missed but I'm thinking success is just around the corner for her. Spent the last two days watching and gonna spend the next few as well. FEELING LUCKY!

Lol, I just put on a new sight for her. She kept hitting waaaay high. I'm like it's got to be your anchor point.... then it suddenly hit me.
